The Importance of Project REWIND and Peer to Peer Coaching
Project REWIND is an early intervention program that brings youth and their parents together to address problems arising from substance use. The goal of these 5-hour parent and child mental health workshops is to deter experimenters from becoming regular users. notMYkid has developed a dynamic and engaging platform, utilizing our peer-to-peer coaching model, to address the impact of substance use on the individual teen, academics, friendships, employment, and relations with family and loved ones.
Program Goal: Deter experimenters from becoming regular users and, like many of our mental health workshops, provide support to families.
- Participants explore how substance use impacts brain development, academics, relationships, stress, and emotions.
- A proactive peer-to-peer coaching approach strengthens family connections, understanding, communication, and boundaries.
Substances Covered: Alcohol, Smoking/Vaping, Nicotine, Cannabis/THC, Opioids & Fentanyl, and Illicit Drugs.
What families are saying about Project REWIND
“It was a great experience for our family. We really appreciated the opportunity to go through the program together and learn together. Of all the programs and counseling we did related to our family’s situation, Project REWIND was by far the best.” – Kevin (Cave Creek)
“For us, it was a lifesaver. The program resulted in a complete 180-degree turnaround. We are now moving in a very positive direction. Our daughter’s grades are improving. Everything is improving. The program could not have been better.” – Mike (Paradise Valley)
“My husband, son, and I really enjoyed it. It was very non-threatening, and it was easy to get my son to attend. The advice was very realistic and applied in the real world. I gained so much knowledge and comfort from the program. It has a very positive reputation, even among teens. My son knows others who went through it and no one talks about it negatively or as if it was a joke. Even the kids respect and appreciate the program.” – Kathleen (Scottsdale)
“The program was excellent. I have referred so many people to the program including friends, colleagues, even teenagers. The facilitators were so open and honest, especially in sharing their experiences. It affected me and my son so much. It got through to him. Those sessions made a huge difference. Nearly all of the information was new to both of us. Thank you for what you do.” – Natalie (Cave Creek)
