PARENT & FACULTY EDUCATION
notMYkid empowers caregivers, school faculty, faith communities, and anyone that interacts with youth with up-to-date informational workshops and more intensive professional training on the following topic: substance use prevention planning; drug trend updates specifically addressing opioids, marijuana, and vaping-related health concerns; suicide alertness; depression and mental health issues affecting children (elementary, middle school and high school specific content); navigating internet safety; body image; relationships; and other behavioral health concerns that may be affecting your community. Our seasoned team of prevention experts are trainers of nationally recognized programs in suicide alertness and intervention which include: SafeTalk, ASIST and Mental Health First Aid. Attendees of our substance use prevention program leave with a complimentary home drug testing sample provided by First Check and a personalized family prevention plan.
The challenges kids and families face today are complex and have the potential to devastate lives and derail futures. The average age a child will first try drugs across the country is 13. Studies indicate that people who reach 21 without engaging in destructive behaviors are likely to never do so, which is why we passionately educate about current trends, warning signs, and the long-term impact of destructive behaviors. We believe proactive prevention on the part of children, families, and communities is the answer to long-term success.
