ABOUT US

For more than 20 years, notMYkid has been providing youth, families, schools, and community partners with high impact prevention education and early intervention programs. Fast forward 22 years and we can proudly share that our organization has successfully served over 3 million individuals and continues to reach over 100,000 youth and adults each year.

Following two decades of service, our nonprofit has completely transformed to meet the unique needs facing youth and their families by providing a full continuum of life-saving prevention, early intervention, behavioral health support, and wellness programs. Our team of prevention and behavioral health experts are dedicated to helping youth overcome challenges during their most vulnerable years. Programs are traditionally delivered in schools, community organizations, at the workplace, and direct to devices via our Podcast and webinars.

With the arrival of a global pandemic, it has not been business as usual and our commitment to quality and inclusivity led to a swift transition to virtual programs and expansion into treatment, peer support, and well-being programs to meet the urgent and rapidly changing needs of families.

Our array of programs and trainings focus on substance use, vaping, bullying, relationships, trauma, body image, mental health, and internet safety for youth, adults, and the community at-large.

We strive to realize the following outcomes through our trauma-informed programming:

  • Build knowledge and social/emotional competencies to enhance resiliency, confidence, and character; and
  • Educate youth and adults on where to go and how to ask for help if they or someone they know is struggling with a mental or behavioral health issue.

OUR VISION & HISTORY

notMYkid has a vision that every kid will have the knowledge and confidence to reach their full potential through positive life choices. Steve and Debbie Moak founded the organization in 1999 after battling the substance use addiction of their teenage son. The Moaks’ first-hand experiences inspired them to develop notMYkid and bravely share their journey and help communities eliminate the stigma that fuels addiction, mental illness, and suffering in silence. Their personal story fueled a movement that embraced prevention as the path to saving lives and restored hope in others that recovery is possible.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Every day, our children make potentially life-or-death choices related to topics such as suicide, substance use, digital behaviors, body image, bullying, and dating violence. So many of them suffer in silence and all too often, families also struggle in silence.

You can help us make the difference through proactive and highly effective programming.

Your tax-deductible support is crucial to our mission to inspire positive life choices and help our youth arrive to adulthood, healthy and whole.

  • $250.00 sponsors a family in need of our early intervention support program, Project Rewind.
  • $500.00 underwrites school programming, where we can impact hundreds of at-risk students with a single event.
  • $1,000 sponsors critical training programs for teachers and the community at-large on suicide prevention.
  • $5,000 underwrites a full suite (10) of prevention programs at underserved schools.

Every dollar counts. Here are other ways YOU can help.

  • Charitable Tax Credit Donations: You may reduce the amount of taxes you owe or increase your refund by making a Charitable Tax Credit Donation to notMYkid. Donors can direct up to $800.00 per couple or $400.00 per individual. This donation is different than the Public or Private School Tax Credit and taxpayers are eligible to make both! Our QCO code is 20724.
  • Host or Underwrite a notMYkid EventOur expert team delivers high quality workshops throughout the year for parents and stakeholders on a wide variety of critical issues facing our youth and community. Sponsorships and underwriting opportunities are available.  Learn how. Contact programs@notmykid.org
  • Sponsor a ProgramHonor your preferred institution with the information, education, and tools that will empower youth to reach their full potential by making positive life choices.

Corporate Wellness: Make saving lives the business of your business! Bring notMYkid’s corporate wellness program to your workplace and help us educate parents and caregivers where they work. One of the greatest hidden influences on workplace productivity is the distraction of family issues. Studies show that distressed and distracted employees spend more than 1/3 of their time at work being unproductive.

VolunteerJoin our Women’s Auxiliary!  The Women’s Auxiliary is a dynamic group who support the mission of nMk through philanthropy and education. They are on the forefront of community involvement and work to increase the reach of nMk in a variety of school and community settings. They also support our annual spring gala, the largest single source of funds raised for the organization. Contact our Events Coordinator to learn more at Laura@notmykid.org
