Educators
Information for educators...
You are an educator, influential in the lives of the students and parents you serve. Creating a positive, drug-free culture within your classroom starts and ends with you. Being aware of slang, drawings and clothing that represent negative choices for children is just one way to make sure the classroom environment you create is one that is conducive to learning and interacting positively.
Familiarizing yourself, either through reading or conversation, with your school’s policies and procedures regarding responding to suspected drug use, discussions or displays of drug culture, is another way to ensure a positive environment. Becoming comfortable conversing with students about the many choices they will face, and providing them with defenses against peer pressure will aid in your ongoing pursuit of a dynamic learning environment. You are an educator, an agent of behavioral change, entrusted with the educational challenge of providing information within a safe, structured environment. Modeling positive behavior and being aware of current trends make you a leader for students and parents.
